Fix-It

PUBLISHED MARCH 7, 2007

Last week, Fix-It looked at a broken help box on 119th Street and Claremont Avenue. While the box has not yet been fixed, according to Bill Plackenmeyer, director of Barnard security, a contractor is expected to repair it in the near future.

This week, we find that residents of Ruggles Hall are experiencing extreme and unpredictable shower and tap water temperatures. According to Emma Judkins, CC '07, turning on the water in her seventh-floor suite is a daily peril. "If you turn it to the hot side, you never know if it's going to be cold water or hot water," Judkins said, adding that she had similar but less severe problems when she lived on the third floor of Ruggles two years ago. "Every time I wash the dishes, I burn myself, regardless of what happens," she said. "You can live with it, but at the same time, it's kind of a hazard and should be fixed."
