Fix-It
Last time, Fix-It discussed irregular water temperatures in Ruggles Hall. According to Daniel Held, a director of communications for Columbia's Department of Finance and Administration, Columbia Facilities has recalibrated and reduced Ruggles' hot water output temperature in response to the complaints raised, although it found the water temperature to be normal in its investigation of the hot water system.
This week, we find that the dryers in East Campus regularly fail to dry clothes, even after repeated runs. "You have to block four hours in your day to do laundry, and no one has that kind of time," said Shari Lichter, BC '09, who lives in East Campus. Lichter said that the defective dryers were a serious drain on time and money, recalling one Friday evening when she found her load sopping wet but was unable to run the dryer again due to her observance of the Sabbath.
