Fix-It

PUBLISHED APRIL 11, 2007

Last week, Fix-It brought up the removal of the stamp machine in McIntosh Student Center. According to Alan Anderson, director of Barnard's mail and documents services, the post office removed the machine because of low profits.

This week, we find that Hartley suite 3A is housing a few extra residents. "There's some mice and cockroaches hanging out here in my suite," Holly Chung, CC '09, said. According to Chung, she and her suitemates have been seeing cockroaches regularly in the kitchen, hallway, and bedrooms all year, although the mice are a new addition. While they killed a mouse last week, Chung said: "There might be more where that came from. No one really knows." The suite has gone to extreme lengths to evict the pests, including chasing a single roach around the suite with a coffee can. Despite throwing it out the window, Chung was convinced the same roach returned the next day. "He liked it so much he thought he would come back again," she said.
