Men's tennis faces tough competition in Georgia

  • Lin-derella story? | Winston Lin and the No. 43 Lions take on No. 3 Georgia.

After a dominant showing at home against Marist and Monmouth Monday, the No. 43 men’s tennis team is heading south to Georgia for the ITA Kick-Off Classic.

“We got some rest over the break, then we had a couple good matches, so hopefully we’ll be ready for this weekend,” head coach Bid Goswami said.

First, the Lions take on No. 3 Georgia Saturday, followed by either No. 36 Washington or No. 40 Stanford Sunday.

“We are starting off with a bang,” Goswami said. “Georgia... may be our toughest match of the season.”

Goswami added that he is happy to face such a challenge this early in the season because he thinks it will yield better results for the rest of the season.

“We have a pretty tough weekend, and I think this can help prepare us for the Ivy League season,” he said.

Play begins Saturday in Athens, Ga. at 1 p.m. and will continue through Sunday afternoon.
