From the raucous laughter of Orgo Night to the musical feast of Bacchanal, arts events are a mainstay of campus culture.
This year set a high bar for music on campus, with Macklemore performing at Bacchanal and several student musicians and groups earning acclaim.
Stress is something to be better handled, not reduced.
From rapper Hoodie Allen to Macklemore, to rockers Archie Pelago, to DJ duo Flosstradamus, last week’s Columbia Music Festival featured several eclectic acts across campus, each one sponsored by a different student group.
Morningsiders and DJ duo Flosstradamus stole the show, while Macklemore's set felt stilted, despite the rapper's stage presence.
Bacchanal's new promotion, the Bacchstage Pass, will give two randomly-selected students the chance to go backstage and meet the performers. It has garnered over 880 shares since Monday.
Eight Columbia music groups faced off in the 2013 Battle of the Bands, presented by Bacchanal. The winner, The Morningsiders, will perform at Bacchanal 2013 later in the spring.
