Nearly 50 graduate students gathered at University President Lee Bollinger’s house Tuesday night to discuss topics ranging from female attrition rates to possible inter-school collaborations.
Spectator sat down with Madigan on Friday to discuss what he hopes to accomplish in the post—goals that range from bolstering faculty mentoring to solving the problem of Columbia’s “appallingly un-diverse” faculty.
The provost’s office has already selected four new postdoctoral fellowships for which to fund a diversity hire: at the School of Nursing, the Law School, the School of Social Work, and the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory.
