Educational Policy and Planning Committee
A 17-member committee of faculty and students will begin the process of designing a new Core Curriculum science course on Monday.
In a long-awaited report, the Educational Policy and Planning Committee has recommended eliminating the lecture portion of Frontiers of Science and rebuilding the course around its small seminars.
With the support of a $2.1 million grant from the Mellon Foundation, administrators and faculty are embarking on a project to design and approve courses that will be offered exclusively abroad.
We begin the spring semester with wide-eyed optimism and hope not to be disappointed.
CCSC held a town hall Sunday night for students to discuss Frontiers of Science, amid a renewed push by faculty to update the course based on student feedback and better integrate it into the Core.
The Educational Policy and Planning Committee will discuss issues ranging from the Frontiers of Science curriculum to study abroad programs, but will have merely advisory powers to the broader Policy and Planning Committee.
The chemistry professor has served as interim dean since September, when he was appointed to replace philosophy professor Michele Moody-Adams, who abruptly resigned.
The Policy and Planning Committee of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences is in the process of putting together the Educational Policy and Planning Committee, as recommended in 2009.
