A 17-member committee of faculty and students will begin the process of designing a new Core Curriculum science course on Monday.
In a long-awaited report, the Educational Policy and Planning Committee has recommended eliminating the lecture portion of Frontiers of Science and rebuilding the course around its small seminars.
First-years in Frontiers of Science were supposed to hear a lecture on quantum mechanics on Feb. 18. But instead, they first witnessed a bizarre performance that left many of them baffled and created a national media sensation.
The survey was based on testing first-years before and after taking the class, which has drawn criticism from students both for alienating humanities-oriented students and for patronizing students with strong science backgrounds.
