The SAT's Double Standards

While standardized exams are a necessary component of undergraduate admissions, the SAT provides a fundamentally flawed way to gauge an applicant's success in high school and potential to succeed in college. Government overhaul of the college-entrance exam would result in the production of a test that is more fair and relevant to college success.

In Defense of the SAT

Are the days of the SAT Reasoning Test numbered? I certainly hope not. Moving toward an admission process that lacks standardized testing is an irrational and dangerous step.

The Opportunity Cost of College

From an institutional perspective, the opportunity cost of allowing me to enroll is that someone else is prevented from attending. When we possess coveted positions in society, we should ask ourselves if those denied the opportunity are more deserving than we are.
