A .500 conference record is not always notable, but this year, it was a
major accomplishment for the Columbia women's basketball team, whose 7-7
record was the best Ancient Eight performance in the program's history.

Thanks to a new $50,000 grant, the Columbia women’s basketball team will be working alongside Roar-ee and the rest of the spirit squad to enhance attendance and audience participation at its games next season.

In the final game of the Ivy League women’s basketball playoffs, Cornell dominated Dartmouth from the beginning of play and did not let up in an impressive 64-47 victory.

After being mathematically eliminated from attaining a title, however, the Lions still had a game to play the next night. With the devastation of Friday’s loss hanging over their heads, the Light Blue came out flat against Dartmouth and fell by 18 points to the Big Green.

The Columbia women’s basketball team, competing at Harvard and Dartmouth, lost both games of its toughest league road trip to fall back to .500 in Ivy play.

With the end of the season a short two weeks away, this weekend’s games further established the Cornell Big Red women’s basketball team (9-1 Ivy) as the dominant leader of the conference.

Maybe it was the Gothic façade. Maybe it was the considerably larger Yale crowd. Maybe it was the Yale band heckling the Lions after every mistake. Whatever the reason, the Columbia women’s basketball team came out flat on Saturday at Yale, and its lack of intensity and aggressiveness all but ended its chance at an Ivy crown.

After starting its weekend off with a bang at Brown (2-22, 1-9 Ivy), the Columbia women’s basketball team (9-15, 6-4 Ivy) could not maintain its momentum and fell at Yale (7-16, 5-5 Ivy) on Saturday.
