Columbia Queer Alliance

This week, the Columbia Queer Alliance will celebrate the end of its annual Queer Awareness Month. QuAM's organizers would better cater to students of all comfort levels by advertising the month's educational programming as much as it does the more explicit revelry of Queer Awareness Month.

In 1967, the concept of gay liberation which would become the driving force of future decades of activism was born—on Columbia’s campus. The group has changed with the times, in name as well as form, to meet the changing needs of Columbia’s students and the changing face of gay activism.

Many members of the queer community have worked closely with the support team and the hunger strikers since the strike began. This is because we support their commitment to disrupt business as usual and to challenge the general level of comfort on campus.
