Columbia

Thawing out of Dante’s Inferno

This column should at least partly be a celebration of the past few years of my life. Above all, I got to do it at one of the greatest schools in the greatest city in the world. I still don’t know what I want to be in life, mostly because the door is overwhelmingly open now to anything I can make of it.

Thinking Outside the Collegebox

Columbia should dissuade its students from entrusting their belongings to the self-proclaimed “very best in collegiate shipping and storage.” What’s more, it should keep Collegeboxes off of College Walk.

'Global' Starts At Home

The lack of undergraduate focus on campus is lamentable and not just for purposes of building student happiness. Happy undergraduates go on to be happy alums, and happy alums donate to and speak proudly of their alma mater.

Due to Graduation, 2007 Is a Rebuilding Season For Wrestling

Last season, the Columbia wrestling team was a nationally-ranked force to be reckoned with. They cracked into the top 25 of the national rankings for the first time in their history, placed second in the Ivy League, and one player earned All-American status.
However, that was last year. Those successes do not necessarily carry over to this year’s team, because despite having a top 25 ranked recruiting class coming in, the Lions lost some of their top seniors from last season. Three of last year’s seniors—Matt Palmer, Matt DeLorenzo, and Justin Barent—were nationally ranked, each breaking into the top 20. Another graduate, Devin Mesanko, was one of four Columbia players to reach the national tournament.
