Today’s visit to campus by both major presidential candidates provides an excellent opportunity to reflect on a summer of campaign activity. Liberals should be particularly troubled by Senator Obama’s various rightward policy shifts as he has transitioned from primary to general election candidate.

The ethical issues at stake are wide-ranging and complicated as the justices deliberate whether the three-drug “death cocktail” currently used in Kentucky carries a risk of pain and suffering sufficient to violate the Eighth Amendment’s prohibition on cruel and unusual punishment.
