Reasonably Right

Like the Greek King Agamemnon, Obama now finds himself at the head of a great power suffering from both war and stagnation. The lesson that president-elect Obama should draw from this story is that wealth redistribution for its own sake is a very bad idea.

Just as economics and security necessitated Canadian-American cooperation in the 20th century, so too will climate change in the 21st. Canada and the United States are more than just allies, they are friends, and it is that connection that will ultimately enable the two countries to accomplish more together than either could alone.

The idea that one set of students would disparage another based on career choice smacks of little more than petty bias. Every student—be it investment banker or inner city school teacher—has the ability to better society, in one way or another.

In the end, America's principles of economic dynamism and individual freedom were able to beat the Soviet ideals of collectivization and central planning, and the world is better for it.
