Reasonably Right

Jon Hollander is returning to the Spectator for his third semester as a columnist, with the goal of continuing the fight against the radical leftist thought that pervades Columbia's campus. Hollander has taken on a variety of contentious campus issues, including the hunger strike, the proposed boycott of Israel, and the NROTC debate. He has also written about broad topics such as the effect of political correctness on academic institutions like Columbia, and the misunderstood place of European colonialism in our history books. This semester, Hollander plans to write more about issues highlighted in the national discourse, with a particular focus on finance and economics. However, he affirms that he will remain faithful to his old beat, tackling "left wing hysteria" whenever it rears its ugly head at Columbia.

The tyranny of political correctness

Ironically, political correctness is only able to make certain people comfortable by instilling a culture of fear in everyone else, since no one wants to risk being labeled a bigot.
