In May, Barnard announced that Jennifer Finney Boylan, celebrated writer and the co-chair of the board of directors of Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, would be joining the English department in the spring 2015 semester as Barnard's inaugural Anna Quindlen Writer-in-Residence. Boylan comes to Barnard after 25 years as the English department co-chair and director of Colby College's creative writing program. In anticipation of her position, Boylan spoke to Spectator about the writing process, her work with GLAAD, and returning to New York City.
