Glossier, a millennial beauty brand that shot to instant success since its creation in 2014, has not missed the far-flung corners of Morningside Heights. The Diana Center’s Louise McCagg Gallery transformed into an artistic warehouse last Thursday, as family and friends attended Barnard’s annual visual arts senior thesis exhibition. Amid the strong smells of cheese and wine, paint and plaster, the atmosphere was quiet but buzzing with energy, with many of the student artists engaged in earnest conversations about their work with visitors.

Plays by students from Barnard’s Theatre Department were performed over the weekend of April 20 to 22, when four senior directors from Barnard and Columbia took the stage to conclude a year and a half of work. Each piece was performed multiple times over the weekend to allow theater-goers to enjoy the full range of theses, spanning genres from magical realism, to absurdist theatre, to political drama.

When Sam Choi, CC ’19, first started learning how to do makeup, it was because of a strong interest in recreating “really heavy, intense drag makeup.” But after watching tutorials on YouTube by famous makeup artists like Lisa Eldridge and Charlotte Tilbury, the latter of whom he worships, Choi turned to more “natural” makeup as a way to give others a boost of self-confidence.
