Check to see if your desired room/suite is still available. Check back for a full breakdown of today's events later tonight from Housing pro Eric Feder. As always, comments and questions are welcome. Claremont There are EIGHT seven-person suites left. For those of you who followed the liveblog closely, this may seem odd because we started out the day with nine suites and finished with seven. HOWEVER, one of the groups who picked into Claremont actually was ineligible and thus will be dropped down to General Selection. The eight available seven-person suites are: 21, 22, 31, 32, 41, 42, 61, 62. Specifically, 51 has been taken, but is not shown on Housing's floor plan and 62, which the above suite took, is actually available. Floor One Floor Two Floor Three Floor Four Floor Five Floor Six East Campus Slim pickings left. The six remaining doubles are all on the sixth floor. The ECXs are all on the eighth and 18th floors. Floor Six Floor Eight Floor 18 Nussbaum, Ruggles, and Watt after the jump. more Nussbaum Third Floor Fourth Floor Fifth Floor Ninth Floor Tenth Floor Ruggles The one remaining six-person suite is on the first floor and likely will be taken early tomorrow. First Floor Watt The O, C, F, K, L lines are gone. First Floor Second Floor Third Floor Four Floor Fifth Floor Sixth Floor

Columbia next semester, as part of a big USenate push, will have a new shuttle bus service in the MoHi and M'ville area. The service will be offered every day from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. Here's the route. The new service's biggest winners are listed (and there are several!) after the jump. Let us know if we're missing some.more Winners 1) The Heights and 1020. There are stops (certainly intentionally placed) right in front of the Heights and 1020. The shuttle bus drops you off right at the gates of Wien and by translation, EC. For residents in Barnard/Claremont, there's a stop right at 120th and Broadway. 2) People who like to explore M'ville 2 in the morning (aka, NO ONE). Why why WHY does like two-thirds of the blue line stop east of Morningside Park and deep in M'ville? I don't get it. What purpose does the blue line have? This feels a lot more like a route for 2016---when M'ville's Jerome Greene Science Building opens---than a route for undergrads. 3) Residents of Harmony Hall. There's a bus stop right next to the building! Now, when you study at Butler, you don't have to choose between sleeping at Butler or walking an annoyingly long distance.

Bloomberg is facing a firestorm of controversy right now for refusing to reveal that his former deputy mayor and current SIPA adjunct professor Stephen Goldsmith was arrested back in July under domestic violence charges. Stephen Goldsmith stated on the record that he regretted not making the charges and his following resignation more public, while Bloomberg steadfastly defended his decision to conceal the arrest. Check the full story from the NYT here. The Columbia directory indicates that Goldsmith is not teaching any classes this semester. Better an arrest than a lovechild.

A few days ago, we wrote about what you need to know about the Joe Coffee store in the Northwest Corner Building. Here are some more details since that review.

According to a worker at Five Guys, the fast food chain will "almost definitely" open Tuesday. The worker said that the chain is scheduled to open on Tuesday at the latest, and will likely launch then, but added that Five Guys might open on Monday if they finish ahead of schedule. Rejoice! That cheerful day is within our horizon.

We've got fewer than 48 hours before the first group picks into a glorious, glorious suite. Not much to say (but do check after the jump for live maps for Suite Selection). First, here's the suite-picking protocol (sorry---like airplane safety tutorials, these always gotta come first). Protocol: 1) Get your ass into John Jay Lounge before your appointment time. 2) Grab some candy. Housing always has airheads and Reese's. 3) In the lounge there'll be a bunch of floor plans. Check them out and pick a room you like. 4) Let the Housing people know which room you picked, at which then you'll be ushered into the backroom of the John Jay Lounge to finalize your selection.more 5) You'll see people from Spec and Bwog eagerly waiting for you to say what you picked into. Tell us---we need your reporting to make our live coverage good. 6) There'll be a computer station at the last stop. Go there, agree to their agreement, grab some more candy, and be prepared to give us a memorable quote for the ages for us to publish. That's it. Quick, and painless. Other Stuff: Here are some general bits of advice. 1) You get three minutes before the next group can pick. Be prepared with your options (which the below whiteboard will hopefully help out with). And never, unless you're fine living in a slightly inferior suite, arrive late. 2) If you elect to go into Senior/Junior Regroup, do yourselves and us a favor by making a quick mention of that in-person or in the comments. 3) Make sure you have your proxy stuff figured out. 4) Housing is FUN. Introducing ...The Board 2.0 This year we're trying some new stuff to make Housing more accessible, less hard, and hopefully even a little bit fun. With this board, you can see at a glance how many rooms of each type are remaining ('All Dorms' is the option you want to select). You can also look at the floor plans of every single floor of every single dorm and see which rooms are remaining, or you can go into Spreadsheet view and get a list of remaining suites, sortable by floor, type, and in some cases square feet. All of this will be updated live. A suite that's highlighted green is available, whereas a suite that's red has been taken. Give it a try, and apologies in advance for the slow loading time.
