There's a shocking similarity between Dean Hinkson's new program, Constellations, and the 116th Annual Varsity Show.more Constellations is a new initiative at Barnard this year, designed like a mentorship program with a whimsical name. First Year students are placed in a constellation group based on their floor. Each group is led by an exemplary Barnard Upperclass student. Naturally, each group has its own "constellation" name; the 8th floor is Fornax, 7th floor is Lyra etc. Group Leaders are supposed to arrange activities off campus and help First Years adjust to college life. Sound familiar? In the 116th Annual Varsity Show, Dean Denburg of Barnard College maniacally establishes Build-a-Bear: a program where one Upperclass student, or Big Bear, is paired with a First Year, or Little Bear, and they are forever united and forcibly inseparable. There is one difference between the two programs, as Dean Hinkson said herself, "We're not at this point planning on the one-to-one match up." Key words: at this point...gulp! Granted, judging Constellations based on a Varsity Show plot is premature. Still, I have my fingers crossed for a big song and dance number at the end....
