By the end of one 10-minute skit, Timothée was kneeling on the ground stuffing dollar bills frantically into his mouth while simultaneously JUUL-ing. Moments before, a five-year-old had snorted a line of Kool-Aid-looking powder from a table. The skit was a little all over the place, but perhaps best summed up by the line, “Who needs family when you have AirPods?!”

Leaps and twirls and Nae Naes aplenty! Though the performance was sitcom-themed, the audience’s audible enthusiasm was enough to overshadow any laugh track.

A grinning mask of President John F. Kennedy faced the audience as a disheveled Jackie O and Marilyn Monroe bowed, hand-in-hand with a bloodied man. Behind them, a chicken wire deer carcass lay with tissue paper entrails spilled across the stage.

Prepare ye the way of Godspell! Song by song, parable by parable—oh dear lord, the things they played. With students, parents, and God as their witness, the cast and crew of Columbia Musical Theatre Society’s “Godspell” took the Glicker-Milstein Theatre by storm last weekend.

The Time’s Up movement launched on Jan 1, 2018 as a response to sexual harassment and assault allegations made against former movie producer Harvey Weinstein. On Friday night, at Barnard’s ninth annual Athena Film Festival, one of the movement’s founders, Nina Shaw, BC ’76, Law ’79, was honored with the Athena Award for her excellence in leadership within the film industry while wearing a Time’s Up pin on her dress.

U.S. Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and leaders from the Time’s Up movement were among some of the big names who made appearances at Barnard’s ninth annual Athena Film Festival this weekend, joining in conversations regarding the importance of representation and women’s leadership in the film industry.
