From their festive lights to their fresh smell, Christmas tree stands define New York City winters. Stacks of trees propped up on wooden planks line the busiest streets of the city for a month every year during the holiday season. In Harlem, Uptown Christmas Trees has been providing residents with this festive cheer since 1974.

The Panel for Educational Policy unanimously passed a resolution on Sept. 25 urging New York City public schools to oppose current Immigration and Customs Enforcement policies, amid increased fears of deportation in West Harlem and as President Donald Trump ramps up his mass deportation initiative nationwide.
