Acting University President Claire Shipman, CC ’86, SIPA ’94, raised concerns over a drop in international student enrollment for the incoming class at the Oct. 24 University Senate plenary.

Public Safety officers asked Student Workers of Columbia-United Auto Worker members to move its “bring Columbia to the table” picket off campus on Oct. 17, despite a September change to the University statutes exempting certain union demonstrations from the rules governing on-campus protests.

An anonymous group of graduate student workers filed an unfair labor practice charge against Student Workers of Columbia-United Auto Workers on Sept. 16, alleging that the union has been bargaining in “bad faith” and has failed to fairly represent student workers in its recent contract negotiations with the University.
