Field hockey saw mixed results this weekend, extending its winning streak to three with a win over Fairfield University at home on Friday before falling to Quinnipiac University on Sunday on the road.

Field hockey hit the ground running during its opening weekend, winning both of its games, including one ranked victory.

In the 2024 Ivy League field hockey preseason poll, Columbia was projected to finish last. Newly hired head coach Niki Miller knew then that her Lions could do more. Coming into the season, Miller set her focus on changing the culture and mindset of the program, choosing to center her team around the athletes rather than their external success.

Men’s squash finished its season with a 3-1 post at the College Squash Association team championships in Philadelphia, ending its run in fifth place. After facing an early loss on Thursday, the women’s team ended its weekend with two wins, finishing ninth overall.

Both men’s and women’s squash fell against Drexel University in Philadelphia on Saturday before taking on the University of Western Ontario and Georgetown University for Senior Day on Sunday.

Associate head coach Tyler Cordell’s love for basketball has always been intertwined with her love for her family and friends. She has channeled that love throughout her life, carrying it now as she helps the Lions bring Ivy League basketball into the spotlight.

When senior goalkeeper Katie Wimmer walked into her elementary school, she didn’t know that she would be given a life-changing push, sending her in a direction that would alter the course of her life. Wimmer’s middle school gym teacher offered her a field hockey stick and encouraged her to try out for the team, an opportunity she had presented before.
