Parents associations from P.S. 368 and P.S. 153 held a parents forum on March 6 regarding the community impact of Bowery Residents’ Committee’s controversial supportive housing development at 1727 Amsterdam Ave.

Harlem Community School District 5 hosted its annual State of the District address at Frederick Douglass Academy on Wednesday. Titled “Where we Reimagine the Renaissance,” the event included student contributions and an address by District 5 Superintendent Sean L. Davenport.

Education leaders said they have seen a promising start to the inaugural Early Childhood Teacher Leader MECCA Groups, which the Harlem Community School District 5’s academic team launched last month to allow teachers to plan individual goals around one of the district’s Mindfulness, Excellence, Capacity-building, Collaboration, and Action priorities.

District 7 New York City Council member Shaun Abreu, CC ’14, along with council speaker Adrienne Adams and New York City Department of Parks and Recreation commissioner Sue Donoghue, announced on Tuesday a $7.4 million grant to revitalize the Ten Mile River Playground in Riverside Park.
