Dean of Advising Monique Rinere has left Columbia.
The Center for Student Advising announced Friday that "as of this week, Monique Rinere is no longer serving as Dean of Advising." The statement did not explain the reason for Rinere's departure, and a Columbia College spokesperson declined to provide an explanation.
At Columbia, Rinere expanded the programs offered by the Center for Student Advising, implementing a peer advising program, a program connecting transfer students, and revising the medical leave and readmission policy for Columbia College and School of Engineering and Applied Science. Rinere, who oversaw the Center for Student Advising for six years, came to Columbia after serving as the associate dean of advising at Harvard.
The CSA reported in 2014 that more than 100 students visited the center per day.
