Spectrum will be producing content on The Shaft from now until housing selection in early April. If at any time you have questions about The Shaft or about housing selection at Barnumbia, let us know and we’ll do our best to answer them.
The heat during the first few weeks of the fall semester is brutal, and sometimes pointing five fans at your body while you sleep just doesn’t cut it.
Air conditioning is very important to some and just a perk to others. As you’re choosing your room, consider whether or not you are a person who can stand the heat. If you absolutely need AC, make a note of the dorms that have it.

Unfortunately, AC is not abundant at CU. However, it is possible for any student—rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors alike—to end up in a “cool” room if you start planning now.
Isabella Monaco is Spectrum associate editor and a Barnard first-year. She needs AC to stay sane. Reach her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
