Bruno-Mars

In Roone Arledge Auditorium on Friday night, audience members were met with dancers draped in tie dye, sequined tops, animal onesies, and rainbow socks, to name a few. But their colorful garments were only one of the highlights of ‘Versace on the FloOrchesis,’ Orchesis’ end-of-semester performance, a show emphasizing the importance of supportive communities.

Bruno Boudjelal is an unassuming figure. Slim and soft-spoken, he has the assured mannerisms of someone who prefers to contemplate the things he has seen rather than talk about them. Boudjelal doesn't need to say much, however, to relay the wisdom he has gained from his experiences: His photographs, a selection of which he presented on Thursday, Oct. 27th in Barnard Hall, speak for him.

One small droplet for Mars, one giant leap in the probability of martian existence!!! After NASA's new discovery of water on Mars, it seems the world can do anything now... and yet, Columbia still can't...

Well, it certainly wasn't the most exciting Super Bowl ever. But Super Bowl XLVIII (that would be 48, for those of you who aren't fluent in Roman numerals) still had some highlights. As a neutral football fan, here are my top 10. 1. Prop Bets My favorites are easily "the numbers of Skittles pelted at Seahawks' running back Marshawn Lynch" and "whether Knowshon Moreno would cry during the national anthem." (You may recall that he is the patron saint of shedding tears on national TV.) 2. The Safety The first play from scrimmage of the Super Bowl. It would impossible to quantify the anxiety going through the minds of all 22 players on the field. But still, there have been, what, 47 of these Super Bowl things without a catastrophe of that magnitude? more 3. Percy Harvin For the next year, Seattle general manager John Schneider will receive an endless parade of praise. And you know what, it's totally deserved. Seattle's roster is filled with young, cheap talent and mind-boggling depth. So couldn't you just imagine Schneider waiting to unveil his highest profile acquisition of last off-season---trading multiple draft picks for the dynamic Harvin---in the Super Bowl? I swear he knew! He planned this! 4. Denver punting down 29 It was blowout in the end, so the confusing in-game decisions (and there were a lot of them) of Broncos' head coach John Fox ultimately didn't matter. That said, Denver was on the fringe of field goal position. It was fourth and long in the third quarter. Trying to win the "field position battle" is trivial compared to trying to win the game itself. Go for it, Denver! 5. Russell Wilson Wilson was truly terrific. His stiff-arm of Champ Bailey, as many pointed out on Twitter, was Heisman-esque. Wilson also managed to dissect the Denver defense and silence those calling the Seahawks' QB a game-manager. It's important to remember the Broncos' defense was, at the very best, average this season. Then again, Wilson's best receiver was Golden Tate. 6. Bruno Mars I'm not someone who pays attention to the halftime shows. I usually leave the room. This year, no one changed the channel or started up the Xbox during halftime. I couldn't have been luckier. Bruno Mars made those 15 minutes of non-football finally relevant. When was the last time anyone uttered that phrase about the halftime show? (And I know what you're thinking…) 7. Commercials There are too many to discuss at length. My favorite was easily the Kia Matrix Commercial. It's the one with the Matrix. Except, there is a twist. Morpheus does not only make a cameo but also sings some operatic tunes. An entertaining 30 seconds, without a doubt. 8. Jermaine Kearse's TD A shocking two games for the unheralded Kearse. First, he catches the game-changing touchdown in the Seahawks' NFC Championship Game victory. Then, he proceeds to break like 15 tackles on his way to the end zone in the Super Bowl. You'd have thought he was Marshawn Lynch. 9. Demaryius Thomas With 13 receptions for 118 yards against the NFL's best secondary, he quietly had one of the great performances for any wide receiver in Super Bowl history. Thomas is one of the best wide receivers in football. Most football fans forget that. 10. The weather Well, call this the anti-highlight. The weather wasn't a factor whatsoever. You're probably as tired of hearing about the frigid New Jersey temperatures as I am.

Before I go any further, I'd like to offer my sincere condolences to those of you from Denver. If there's anything I can do—anything at all—please don't hesitate to ask.
