Picture this: You’re at lunch with some friends who are talking about music. Someone mentions how much “thank u, next” slaps. “I don’t listen to Ariana Grande,” you say. “She’s super problematic.” Everybody thinks for a second. You all quietly agree with this point, so you move on to the next topic. No big deal, right?

Everyone has unwanted realities in their life. For me, those realities are Canada Goose jackets and asshole academic speak. And I’m not convinced that they’re completely unrelated.

On the first day of class this semester, I woke up early to give myself adequate time to get ready. I thought, it’s your last first day here, so you should really try to make a good first impression. But in my mind, making a good first impression didn’t mean having done the readings or perusing the syllabus to come up with questions to ask the professor—it meant putting together the perfect outfit.

If you were looking forward to Toronto mayor Rob Ford's new television show, "Ford Nation," I'd like to apologize, because it was canceled after only one episode. If it's any consolation, the show was a train wreck that, even though it got a lot of viewers, took a total of 15 hours to make (eight of those were editing out Ford's mistakes, since he's so bad at TV). But the best part is that, even without a bizarre talk show that stars only him and his brother, Toronto City Councilor Doug Ford, talking about how much they love Toronto, fans can still be entertained by the the episode of "Bad Girls Club" that is Ford's life. For the uninitiated, what follows is a brief history of the man Vice has called the "world's greatest mayor."

In an announcement this morning, the Columbia Athletics Department announced that it is replacing the varsity football and men's basketball teams with men's varsity cricket and curling squads. This will take effect next fall. In a written statement, Atheletic Director M. Dianne Murphy said,

This year, madness has hit Butler well before any finals or midterms, as Bwog reports. In a bizarre stunt worthy of internet shock videos of yore (2 Girls 1 Cup, eat your heart out), five women perform a fake "initiation." From the video's description: "Purple TV presents an new video from Coco Young and Karley Sciortino, Intiation. Initiation explores the rituals of American Ivy League secret societies, to the point of hysteria, highlighting our culture's perception of female desire."
