Honors and awards are an important part of résumés and graduate school applications, showcasing the hard work you’ve put into your academic career. They are markers of your achievement, and some of these honor programs also develop skills that can be used for your internships and career. It’s important to be aware of the various awards that you are eligible for so that you can make the most out of your time at Columbia.

The first few weeks of a new school term are always stressful, especially if you partake in the tedious process of sifting through the countless clubs and teams on campus just to find the select few that interest you. Whether you have just started your club hunting journey or are already taking a break from the hubbub of it all, here is a list of clubs and organizations that might interest you. This list includes those that are still recruiting in the third week of classes as well as ones that are open to new members all year round.

When one watches a love story unfold slowly in a musty cinema, listens to a singer’s voice build in an unearthly crescendo, or stands stunned before a mural painted with startlingly bright colors, it is possible to pause for a moment, take a deep breath, and step back from reality. It becomes possible to succumb to the incalculability of life—suddenly, one can reclaim the right to feel.

While Barnard has taken steps towards divestment over the course of the past year, the college has noticeably shifted its environmental focus away from conversations surrounding divestment in favor of long-term sustainability initiatives, many of which may prove more expedient and impactful.

As I'm sure you're aware, the polls are open. Go be a responsible citizen of Columbia and cast your vote, or else shut up politely remain quiet when you have something to complain about. Like when a Henry Moore statue suddenly gets installed, despite CCSC's fighting efforts.

It's late at night, and after spending a few hours trying to cram for another freaking Spanish recitation you realize you totally forgot to eat dinner! No worries - that beautiful, smoky, cramped oasis known to many as "JJ's Place" is open and ready to satisfy your late night cravings. However, it can be hard to grab n' go - especially with the ominous "excuse me ma'aM YOU HAVE TO EAT YOUR FOOD INSIDE THE DINING HALL GET YOUR ASS BACK INSIDE AND FINISH YOUR MOZZARELLA STICKS" policy.

Bwog's tradition of asking seniors to share their "senior wisdom" in the weeks before graduation is a wonderful way to learn the ins and outs of being a Columbia student. But it's missing one crucial thing: sexual wisdom (and no, the oral sex vs. cheese question doesn't count.)
