Our basic needs within the MoHi bubble are satisfied by a conveniently small number of places. Detergent, deep-cleansing cosmetics, and condoms? Duane Reade. Mediocre 4 a.m. breakfast? Tom's. Crowded bar with a dance-with-at-least-one-slimy-stranger guarantee? Cannons. (Yep, most of them don't even go here.) The arduous 110th to 125th street trek offers enough to fill up most of our physiological needs, and Maslow would be happy. But there are so many places in the MoHood that aren't spoken for, and it's finally time to give them a chance. Or, in most cases, not.
