March 7 was the last time the Columbia men’s basketball team took the floor. That night, now over eight months ago, rival University of Pennsylvania thrashed the Lions in Philadelphia 85-65, wrapping up a devastating 6-24 campaign that saw Columbia finish at the very bottom of the Ancient Eight.

The men’s tennis team’s past decade has undeniably been one of ascent. However, the reason for this positive shift is rather unclear because, all in all, the Columbia men’s tennis program has not changed much within these years. The Dick Savitt Tennis Center has remained the team’s home court. The Light Blue still practices for outdoor matches in Riverside Park, making it the only ranked Division I school without outdoor tennis courts. Former head coach Bid Goswami was already in the 28th season of his tenure when the decade opened—his calm, concise method of coaching remained a constant.

If there’s one thing to know about Victor Pham, it’s that he prioritizes family over everything. Pham spoke in great detail of the sacrifices his family has made to make him a champion and how grateful he is for all they’ve done for him.

For the first time in program history, men’s tennis will have No. 1 overall seed in a national tournament, as the duo of senior Will Matheson and sophomore Jack Lin will headline a deep bracket at the ITA Fall National Championships.

World-renowned clarinetist and saxophonist Victor Goines is coming to Columbia for a jazz performance titled "New Orleans: Opera and Jazz Together." His quartet, which also features Marion Felder on drums, Emma Dayhuff on bass, and Chris Pattishall on piano, is scheduled to perform in Buell Hall on Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.
