For most of its history, Columbia women’s basketball has been a weak program, with a winning percentage of 0.344. But in many ways, the 2010s was its best decade in its 33-year experience in Division I, as Columbia kicked off the decade with its first-ever winning season and concluded it with its second. Yet at the same time, the Lions continued to struggle throughout their decade on the court, hitting the bottom in conference standings five times and taking second to last three times. The team’s average conference win total in the decade was just 3.8 games out of the 14 total games played against Ivy League opponents each season.

Women’s basketball dropped both games in its last home weekend to end the regular season. The Lions’ offense failed to pick up steam in the 77-52 loss to Princeton, as well as in the 51-36 defeat to Penn, locking down the fourth playoff seed.

Women’s basketball double killed the Crimson and the Big Green to secure a tournament spot after its 62-57 win in Cambridge. This extended the team’s winning streak to six games, the program’s longest in Ivy play. Columbia now ranks third in the Ivy League after consolidating its record with a 62-50 victory against Dartmouth and looks to finish the regular season strong at Levien Gymnasium next weekend.

This is the first time since 2008 that the program has had two consecutive weekend sweeps.

Alexandra Waterbury, GS ’21, brought forward allegations of sexual harassment against New York City Ballet dancer Amar Ramasar in September 2018. Despite the ongoing court battle, Ramasar was cast in Broadway’s edgy revival of “West Side Story” as Bernardo, one of the central roles. On Thursday night, dozens of protesters gathered on the sidewalk in front of Broadway Theatre before the opening performance to protest his casting.
