With Columbia students scattered across the globe and the pandemic in full swing, Halloween is going to look a little different this year. We took a trip into the Spec archives and down memory lane to see the spooky stories about the Columbia community that have been covered over the years to remind ourselves that the spirit of Halloween still lives on—even on Zoom.

Midterms getting you down? Remember a time when life was stress-free and you could just lip-sync all of your favorite (yet wildly inappropriate for your age) pop songs without having any idea what being "bootylicious" meant? If you're finally blowing off a little bit of your midterm steam by going out this weekend, let this week's playlist chill you out and transport you to the late '90s and early 2000s.

Acapalooza is today at 8 p.m. in the Diana Event Oval, and I'm pretty sure no one is more excited than I. I've taken it upon myself to prepare you for its magnificence. The following is why you should not only attend Acapalooza but should also join me in jittery anticipation like rabid fanpeople. Because the quirkiness and creativity required leads to some seriously fun twists: more Because even heartless TV executives agree that this kind of talent needs to be shared with the world: Because bare-bones covers can be hauntingly beautiful (Pentatonix won the Sing Off, FYI): Because there was even more to "Pitch Perfect" than the now over-sung "Cups": Because on a related note of adorable boys in blazers, we have our own group of adorable boys in blazers… um, y'know, if you're into that sort of thing: Because we can bust a move: Because, damn, can we throw it back: Because we can build it up and tear it down: And because there are more fantastic groups performing.
