One dead, 17 injured after lithium-ion battery sparks Hamilton Heights apartment fire

Friday’s blaze marked the first death of 2024 caused by lithium-ion batteries in New York City.

FDNY officers responded to a call at around 2:15 p.m. on Friday, arriving at the scene at 2 St. Nicholas Place within three-and-a-half minutes.
