Men’s basketball continued its strong out-of-conference run with a narrow win against Hofstra University on Wednesday. Despite a dominant first half performance from the Light Blue, the visitors from the Coastal Athletic Association clawed back late in the game, but fell just short courtesy of outstanding plays by first-year guard Miles Franklin.

Football closed out its 2025 season with a 29-12 victory over Cornell in Ithaca to win the Empire State Bowl. The Lions found their first win of the conference campaign, ending head coach Jon Poppe’s second season at the helm on an upbeat note.

Men’s basketball continued its strong start to the season with a hard-fought win Thursday against the University of Massachusetts, Lowell. After a shaky first half, the Light Blue turned up the heat, scoring an astounding 55 points at a 65 percent clip from the field overall.

Football fell to Brown at home Saturday afternoon in its second-to-last game of the season. While the Lions briefly took the lead in the fourth quarter, a comeback from the Bears led to a 32-29 heartbreaker.

Fresh off one of its most disappointing Ivy League seasons since the turn of the century, men’s basketball is back with a new look across the board.

Football will return home on Friday, still in search of its first Ivy League win of the season. The struggling Light Blue defense will face a near-insurmountable task of stopping FCS No. 9 ranked Harvard, which is undefeated and ranked best in the Ancient Eight for all offensive categories.

Football fell to Penn in Saturday’s Homecoming matchup, unable to put the brakes on a fiery Quaker offense. Despite the loss, sophomore quarterback Caleb Sanchez excelled in his first start of the season, throwing for 311 yards and two touchdowns.

Last season, Columbia football won the Ivy League title for the first time in 63 years.
