Columbia volleyball split its matches this weekend, picking up its first Ivy win of the season to break a three-game losing streak. The Lions avoided a sweep in their Friday four-set loss to Princeton, winning a set against the Tigers for the first time in two years, and then beat Penn 3-1 on Saturday for their first conference win this year.

Columbia volleyball was swept 3-0 by Cornell in an error-filled Ivy opener. Despite a standout performance from senior middle blocker Chichi Ikwuazom, questions have been raised about the team’s depth.

In its season’s first homestand, Columbia volleyball defeated Fordham, San Jose State, and Long Island University in back-to-back battles at the Big Apple Tournament on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The three-game win streak propelled the team to its best start in almost a decade.
