Democratic senators, joined by Mahdawi, renew campaign against contentious immigration provision

Sens. Peter Welch (D-Vt.), Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), and Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) reintroduced legislation Wednesday to repeal a provision of the Immigration and Nationality Act, which was used to justify Mahdawi’s April 2025 detention.
