Thursday marked the end of in-person housing selection for all groups of rising seniors and rising juniors. For the remaining rising juniors and all rising sophomores, the options include—but are not limited to—600 W. 113th (Nussbaum), McBain Hall, Broadway Hall, Schapiro Hall, and Wien Hall, as well as some remaining suites in Ruggles Hall and Carlton Arms.

Housing selection for Columbia College and SEAS students officially began yesterday! Today marked the first day of in-person housing selection and the majority of seniors have already chosen their dorms for next year, mostly opting for East Campus, Hogan, Watt and Woodbridge. Maybe you’ve always wanted to be part of a Columbia production before you graduate. Perhaps writing for a campus publication is on your bucket list. Or maybe you feel like your life has gotten a bit too routine, and you simply want to meet some new people. No matter what your goal is, it’s likely that there’s a group on campus that can help you achieve it. There’s no better way to get this new semester started than by exploring some new student organizations, so we here at Spectrum have created a short list of some clubs that are still recruiting this semester. Please note that this isn’t a comprehensive list; to find even more organizations to join, visit the Columbia clubs and organizations page and the Barnard officially recognized club list.

The first couple weeks of the semester can be overwhelming and hectic as you settle back in, finalize your registration, and re-familiarize yourself with the routine. Thinking about switching your meal plan or joining a new club but unsure when, where, or how? We want to help you stay organized in this stressful but exciting time, so here is a list of deadlines and dates you should not miss in the next couple weeks!

On Thursday night, the Columbia University Marching Band held Orgo Night outside of Butler Library. As per usual, they offered Columbia students a much-needed break from their late-night cram sessions by putting on a show filled with music, comedy, and a dash of controversy.

Sagittarius season is here. It has dawned on us faster than we could have anticipated, as the arrival of December officially marks the beginning of finals season and the countdown till break. This season, with its free and adventurous spirit, will hopefully push you outside of your comfort zone in the last two weeks of school, whether that means something as mundane as trying out a new studying or workout routine or something as hard as asking your crush out.

Scorpio season has arrived at last—at the end of midterm season—and all the fun, forceful, and complicated yet alluring vibes of Scorpios will spice up your November for sure. Before the last month of school creeps up on us and winter truly dawns, seize the Scorpio energy and rid yourself of any bullshit!
